How to use this page

This page presents the current status of NOvA first analysis production and is updated several times a day. These datasets are under construction so do not represent a complete set of data, Monte Carlo or data-tiers.

Older datasets can be found on the archives page. That page describes all of the official datasets produced since October 2014 that are not part of the first analysis.

All datasets should be used in conjunction with knowledge of the software release that was used to make them. This information is available here. The old redmine based version of this page can be viewed here, however this page is out of date and is not being maintained.

A subset of pre-shutdown files have also been processed including only subruns 0 to 10, these files were produced based on artdaq files produced in a mix of releases.

ND data NuMI n/a Raw2root, reconstruction and PID complete, LEM and CAF ongoing. These files have been reconstructed in a different release to the other samples here: S15-05-04a (as opposed to S15-05-04). This release includes an additional calibration fudge factor of 3.6% for the ND data to account for observed dE/dX discrepancies. A separate set of definitions are provided for top-up ND data, up to the Summer 2015 shutdown.
Cosmics n/a Complete. The calibration files have been produced in the release S15-03-20, based off of artdaq files processed with an older release than used for the NuMI files above: FA14-10-03.
ND beam MC Real runs n/a Complete. Warning: do not attempt genie re-weighting on this sample without first speaking to the production group.

ND NuMI data Alternative geometry n/a Raw2root, reconstruction and PID complete, LEM and CAF ongoing. This sample consists of the same data as the core ND NuMI data sample. However this sample has been reconstructed with a more modern geometry file which is based off of the most recent survey data. As with the baseline ND data sample these files have been reconstructed in a different release to the other samples here: S15-05-04a (as opposed to S15-05-04). This release includes an additional calibration fudge factor of 3.6% for the ND data to account for observed dE/dX discrepancies.
Modern simulation Cosmics MC Near Detector n/a These FD and ND cosmic sample has been simulated in the same release as the core analysis files provided for first analysis FA14-10-03x.a. This is unlike the cosmic files used for the computation of calibration constants described in the FD and ND cosmics pages, which were simulated in FA14-10-03 as were all the calibration samples.
Far Detector n/a
"Ideal" Conditions GENIE MC Far Detector n/a These samples are intended for future sensitivity studies and as such do not need to reflect the running conditions used to collect the first-analysis dataset. The FD sample is made with the full 14DB detector.
Near Detector n/a
ND genie MC Alternate Intensities n/a These samples are the same as the real conditions FHC Monte Carlo files, but have been simulated with alternate NuMI beam intensities.
ND genie rock MC Rock Neutrinos n/a n/a n/a n/a n/a Rock neutrino events simulated with the FA14-10-03x.a. These samples were not used for FA results, but were generated with the same files.

Projections of the resources required to produce these samples are shown here. These are based off of information accrued during the production tests along with some information entered by hand due to missing or incomplete test results.
